<h2>How To Thin Bottoms That are Too Thick</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify;">When you are throwing it can be hard initially opening a piece. You can either open it and the bottom is too thin or too thick. When you throw a bottom too thin you will have to scrap a piece,but you can save a piece that has a thicker bottom. Don shows us in this video how he does this and refers to it as the worm. You will start out by making a groove and placing water in it. As you move your hand in the groove you will curve your fingers and move to the side. This will take the excess clay and move it to the side as well. When the excess <a href="https://staging.ceramic.school/how-to-carve-clay/">clay</a> reaches the side,it should release and the bottom of your piece will now be thinner. Remember the clean up the area using a sponge to ensure it is smooth and even.</p>
