He specialises in creating ceramic animals and often combines other materials into his work too, such as wire and sheet metal.Having had a lifelong fascination with wildlife and a former career in conservation, James attempts to capture the vibrancy and dynamism of his wild subjects. Using his knowledge of anatomy and form, he pushes ceramic and wire to their limits and has developed some innovative techniques to help achieve this. Colour and gestural underglazing bring his pieces to life.James has been heavily influenced by his Grandfather, Brian Price Thomas who illustrated a number of the Ladybird Children Books (including the Gingerbread Man).James also has a love &amp; natural aptitude for teaching.
